This poor blog has been neglected for so so long and it’s time for an update.
I have been so very busy with my new business Fnkybee Photography. Everything has really taken off and I am having the time of my life! We are doing all kinds of photography from musicians to engagements to my favorite Boudoir! You can check out our website! FnkybeePhotography.com and keep up on our blog too!
When I started this adventure Boudoir Photography never even entered my mind. After a shoot in December that turned in a boudoir like shoot I fell in love. There is something about capturing a woman’s true beauty when she lets her guard down in the camera that makes Boudoir truly amazing. Almost every client that I have done a Boudoir Shoot for was full of nerves and just couldn’t even imagine that the images would come out good. The truly beautiful part of boudoir is when a client sees their final images and say “Oh My! I had no idea I could be that sexy and beautiful!” That right there makes it worth it. I love to hear that type of feedback and it makes me feel special that I can show them how gorgeous they are in a light that is so different from everyday. Boudoir Photography is a great self esteem boost, it allows a woman to see themselves in a way that celebrates their true beauty. It lets them see that even though they are a mom, a wife, a soccer coach or what have you that they still are sexy and admirable.
After much thought and bringing my sister on board with me full time we have decided to start up a sister company to Fnkybee Photography strictly for Boudoir. We are working hard getting everything ready for the big announcement which will hopefully happen in a week or two! Stay tuned for updates! I will be updating this site with the information along with my Fnkybee Photography blog. You can find links in the sidebar! —->

Almost 2 weeks ago a good friend of mine put together a Pin Up Girl Shoot and I had the privilege to shoot it. Nat did great putting it all together, she did the makeup, hair and wardrobe. She knew exactly what she wanted and had the day mapped out. We shot for around 7 hours in and around Lucid Linds Studio and had a blast. I couldn’t be happier with the results.

Shew! Last week was crazy and busy. On top of getting everything ready and up for Fnkybee Photography (<–click the link and check it out!) I bought a new camera. Rock’n! I moved from a Sony a300 to Canon 60D. What a difference, I love it. I was like a little kid on a Christmas morning. Saturday I spent the day with my sister and my camera. We shot at her studio, on the streets around her loft and on location. It was a great day and we had a blast.
You can see more shots from the day and keep up with what is happening at Fnkybeephotography.com!
I will be a busy bee later this week. I have a shoot all day Thursday, a shoot Friday and I’m shooting photos and film for a live band Saturday night! Things are happening! Can we say stoked? Together now…”Stoked!” It’s about to get real. Bring it on.
I’m beyond excited to be shooting a band Saturday because this is the niche I want to be in. I love being surrounded by the music, the atmosphere, the creativity, the vibe. There is so much open creativity when it comes to shooting in the music industry, it’s not just head shots and robotic poses. It’s edgy, it’s music, it’s instruments, it’s creative people, it’s the niche as a whole. I heart it.
Till next time, Keep Rock’n.
After last weeks photo shoot I had a friend ask me to do a pin up girl shoot for her and about 10 girls for their bar. It’s an anniversary gift for the bar’s owner and they all will be pin up girls. How Fun! This lit a fire in me, it made me think “I can do this”. I just have to put myself out there, I have to cross over the intimidating hump and find confidence in myself and just do it. So I am.
I would like to introduce
A photograph captures your unique story in time, even though it comes with no words, the story will forever be told with an image.
For now my focus is on finding people to shoot for cheap to get my experience, build a portfolio and to get my name out there. I am very excited to start this because this is me. When I started SpokenStill I was kidding myself. My love is not taking pictures of trees and landscapes it is shooting people, capturing their story. I want to help my client tell their story through still images. I want to give people something a little different, not just the traditional portrait with the white background. I want the photos to have an edge, I want them to pop, I want people to be amazed by them.
What I offer is modern, edgy and urban photo shoots on location or in a studio. I will photograph singles, groups, bands, kids, you name it and I will shoot it. If you are looking for studio shots they will be held at Lucid Linds Studio in the heart of downtown Nashville where a plethora of options are available inside and out. Urban, traditional, inside, and outside the possibilities the studio offers are endless. There are numerous textures and colors at my disposal. The studio also comes with the use of a dressing room, full kitchen and bathroom, internet access and a full sound system. If you would like more information on the studio or are a photographer yourself looking for a great studio for your shoots please visit LucidLindsStudio.com for more information.
If you are interested in a special price photo shoot please contact me by leaving a comment here or on my website fnkybeephotography.com or shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
My sister is in the process of opening her own amazing video/photography studio within her loft downtown, Lucid Linds Studio. She has had a couple of paying shoots already by friends and is in the process of finalizing everything and waiting on her website to be done. Meanwhile she is finishing up the inside and placing ads to get the attention of local photographers. Friday we planned to do a photo shoot of both of us to show all the different options for the studio to add to her porfolio. Well it ended up being a shoot of just me. Now I am not a model, never claimed to be, don’t think I am even close to one but I will say I am pretty proud of how the shots turned out. I was totally uncomfortable in front of the camera for the first half but then we turned up the music and just had fun with it. Here are some shots from the shoot. All photos are taken by my sister and edited by me. If you are a photographer in the Nashville area looking for a great place to shoot that offers many inside and outside shooting options, leave a comment and I will get you the information.
Yesterday I made the decision to take the plunge and finally purchase Photoshop Elements 9. I had downloaded a free trial earlier in the year when I was trying to decide what editing software I wanted to use. As much as I loved it, I found a site on the internet where I could edit for cheap and went that route. Well, you get what you pay for. After awhile the site that I decided to use got old and I found myself back in iphoto editing my photos. Blah.
I spent the day getting to know Miss. Element 9. She is a bit overwhelming at the moment but with time her and I will become great lovers. She can do everything that I want plus some, she’s kinky like that. I can’t wait to fully understand her interface and all of her curves. She is quite beautiful.
One thing that she can do is to make a photo black and white and then pull true colors through. I love love love this feature. It was one of the main reasons I wanted this program. There is just something about emphasizing a specific part/s of a photo that makes it pop, makes it beautiful. I took one photo yesterday to play with and did just that. Here it is.
Along with that awesome feature there are so many filters you can apply to your photos. I played a little with those too.
By no means do I plan on over processing every single photo with filters and effects, but they are fun to play with and they can add a much needed boost to a boring photo.
I am excited and ready to fully understand every aspect of her, ahem I mean the program. Now to study, shoot, play and experiment with my new lover.
Yesterday my sister and I took off downtown Nashville for a little fun with my camera. It was a beautiful day and we had a blast. Here are a few from our outing.
If you are interested in any of the prints to purchase you can find these plus more not shown here on Monday in my Etsy Store SpokenStill PhotoArt!
Yesterday was a darn good day. It raised my spirits and my confidence a notch. I met with a friend that I had not seen or caught up with in quite some time. That length of time in between us getting together must never happen again. I realized yesterday how much I miss her, we always have great conversations, I always enjoy her company. She is a wonderful person, her family is amazing. I love her outlook on life and she always makes me smile. Yesterday I went over to catch up and also get a 101 in normal English on my camera, settings and terms.
We spent the first couple of hours catching up and I got to meet her 7 month old son for the first time. See how long it has been? Geesh, I’m a bad friend. Her son is absolutely adorable and I secretly wanted to kidnap him for a couple of hours or until he pooped. 😉
She is a fantastic photographer herself with a successful photography business so I looked to her for some schooling. We started talking about photography and my 101. She started off by telling me my pictures are good, I stopped her immediately and told her I don’t want her to blow smoke up my tooshie. If I’m bad tell me, I don’t want to be the girl on the American Idol auditions who had someone, who is obviously tone deaf, tell them they are good and then make an ass out of myself. Tell me if I am wasting my time or if my pictures are bad, I can take it…just tell me. She smiled and said no your pictures are good, you either have an eye for it or you don’t and you do. That made me smile REAL BIG! 🙂 I was giddy like a kid! She went on to say there are so many people out there that will tag themselves as a photographer even though their pictures are bad…real bad, and these people are getting paid for it. Unbelievable but yet gives me hope. I do not tag myself as a photographer, hell I’m still learning, I don’t have that right yet. It is just a hobby right at the moment and something that I just love to do. But to hear her tell me I am good raised my confidence a couple of notches. I value her opinion greatly. I want her advice, I want her constructive criticism on my photos. I want to be good at what I do and I’ll admit I’m anal when it comes to certain things and wanting perfection, so I am always up for constructive criticism, I thrive on it. We spent the next hour and a half going over terms, settings and my camera. I had an idea already of what it all meant from studying and doing my own research but having someone, especially a friend, explain it to you in normal everyday language it was like heaven. I got it, I get it, I understand, it all makes sense now. To have her take my camera into her own hands and show me what this or that number meant, show me examples of different settings with her taking the pictures, the difference that you will get with doing this or that was amazing. She also went over the main ‘rules’ of photography with me and that they can be thrown out the window at any time along with editing tips and tricks. It was awesome. I hope she knows how much I appreciate her time that she gave me yesterday.
A little after I got home from her house she had gone on facebook to look again at my photos and critique them. The good points of my photos and where I should go back and edit here and there, what she would have done etc. That is Fabulous! I ate it up. Bring on more! I can’t wait to get crackin on my next picture project! I am excited in a new way and on completely different level. I feel a different confidence now when I hold my camera and I can’t image how that will change yet again after implementing my new found knowledge. I can’t wait!
